LITTLE RIVER GIRLS HAMMER HERINGTON, 79-27

HERINGTON – On Tuesday, the Little River girls finished their pre-Christmas schedule by going on the road and hammering Herington, winning by 52, 79-27.

 

After jumping out to an eight point, 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Redskins out scored Herington 21-9 in the second quarter to hold a commanding 20-point, 35-15 advantage on the scoreboard heading to the halftime break.

 

Little River did not let up on the offense, scoring 24 in the third quarter and another 20 in the fourth while holding Herington to just 12 points total, giving them the final 52-point victory.

 

Dominating the paint, the Lady Redskins pulled down 42 rebounds with 22 of those coming on the offensive end while Herington only grabbed 16 total rebounds.

 

The defense was stifling for Little River as they forced Herington into 26 turnovers, 23 by steals while also making four blocked shots, three coming from Arika Feldman.

 

Feldman had a near double double as she led the team in scoring with 15 points while also grabbing eight rebounds and blocking three shots.

 

Both Saelyn Raleigh and Alaina Eck chipped in with 12 points each and Aubrey Olander also reached double digits with 10 as all 12 Lady Redskins put points in the scorebook. All 12 also recorded at least one rebound, nine has at least one assist and eight made steals on defense.

 

Aubrey Olander tied with Feldman with eight rebounds while both she and sister Havana topped the team in steals with five each.

 

Now 7-0 and still ranked number one in Class 1A Division I, the Lady Redskins return to the competitive court on Friday, January 1 when they go on the road to Peabody/Burns.
