REDSKINS HAMMER EAGLES, WIN 66-6

By Staff
CANTON – Little River traveled to Canton on Friday and took a hammer to the defense of the youthful Canton/Galva Eagles to the tune of a 66-6 win.
The Redskins exploded for 66 first half points with 36 coming in the first quarter on a pair of 44- and 10-yard runs by Jaren Garrison, a 15-yard jaunt by Logan Renken, a 40-yard scoring pass from Renken to Logan Schubert and an interception ran back for a score by Garrison.
In the second quarter, Little River added another four scores with Renken and Schubert both finding the end zone again on 1- and 32-yard runs, respectively. Jhett Ewertt rambled in from 19 yards and Eastyn Wohletz broke loose for a 26-yard scoring dash as well. The Eagles scored on a 29-yard pass play late in the first half to avoid the shutout.
Little River only needed 28 plays and 212 yards on offense to do the damage while holding Canton/Galva to just 81 yards in total offense, all in the air. The Eagles were only able to complete one of nine third down attempts against the staunch Redskin defense.
Besides Garrison, Logan Schubert, C J Herzog and Jhett Ewertt all had interceptions as well.
Offensively, Garrison ran for 56 yards on five carries while Schubert and Renken each went over 30 yards.
With the win, the Redskins remained unbeaten on the season at 5-0 as they prep to host Ell-Saline on Friday. Ell-Saline is 4-1 for the year after soundly beating Solomon 45-0 on Friday.
