LITTLE RIVER POWERS PAST SOLOMON

            LITTLE RIVER – Tuesday, the Little River boys’ and girls’ basketball team powered past visiting Solomon with the Redskin boys winning by three while the Lady Redskins buried Solomon 53-9.

           

            With the wins, the Redskin boys are now 10-5 while the Lady Redskins continue to be unbeaten at 14-0 and ranked number one in Class 1A Division I. The two teams were scheduled to play at Centre on Friday.

            For the Redskin boys, they were up by two at the end of the first quarter, 9-7, and at halftime, 19-17. Falling behind 25-26 at the end of the third quarter, they bounced back to score the final three-point, 37-34, victory.

 

            Both Jaxson Konen and Jaren Garrison reached double digits in the scorebook with Koene scoring 13 and Garrison getting 12. Ty Janette led the work on the boards with eight rebounds and Konen led the team in both assists with four and steals with six.

 

            In the girl’s game, the Lady Redskins powered out to an 18-point, 20-2, lead at the end of the first quarter and held a commanding 33-point, 38-5, advantage at the halftime break. Letting up on the offense a bit in the second half, Little River finished out the final 44-point, 53-9, win.

 

            As a team the Lady Redskins forced Solomon into making 27 turnovers which played out 25-0 on the scoreboard while out scoring Solomon 34-4 inside the lane under the boards.

           

            Arika Feldman led the team with 21 points while Havana Olander scored 11 and topped the team in rebounds with seven.
