MOUNDRIDGE – A slow start first quarter proved costly for the Moundridge girls on Tuesday as they dropped their opening game of the Moundridge Early Season Tournament to Hillsboro, 33-46.

After falling behind by 10 at 8-18 at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats played Hillsboro even in the second quarter but still trailed by 10 at the halftime break.

Chipping four points off the lead in the third quarter, Moundridge put three less points up in the third to give Hillsboro the final 13-point win despite outscoring them 19-15 in quarters two and three.

No Lady Wildcats hit for double digits though Hattie Hecox came close with a team high nine points and the trio of Addy Patrick, Cammi Unruh, and Kaelyn Wedel each chipped in with six. Hecox, Patrick, and Wedel each connected on a pair of three-pointers. No other team stats were available.

Next up as host of the tournament, the Lady Wildcats tangle with county rival Inman on Thursday and Lyons on Friday.
