Hecox Twins Score 12, Unruh Gets 10

MOUNDRIDGE – The youthful Moundridge girls closed out the 2023 Moundridge Early Season Tournament on Friday by racing past Lyons 53-16.

 

The Lady Wildcats ran out to a 17-point, 21-4 lead at the end of the first quarter and carried a 32-8 advantage into the halftime break.

 

Coming out of the break, Moundridge put 19 on the board in the third but only two points in the fourth while holding the Lady Lions to just eight, giving the Lady Wildcats the final 36-point victory.

 

The Hecox twins, Hallie and Hattie shared the scoring leadership for the Lady Wildcats as they both hit for a dozen with Hattie connecting on a pair of three-pointers and Hallie hitting for one. Cammi Unruh also reached double digits with 10 points while Addy Patrick just missed with nine by hitting on a team high three three-pointers.  Macy Kaminkow dominated the paint as she led the team in rebounding by grabbing eight.

 

As a team, the Lady Wildcats hit for a total of seven three-pointers while making 17 steals on defense.

 

This week the Moundridge girls will play host to powerhouse Little River on Tuesday and Cheney on Friday to close out their pre-Christmas schedule.
