INMAN – It was a battle of county rivals on Friday as the Moundridge girls went into Inman and held off a late rally to pull off a one-point, 46-45 win over the Lady Teutons.
The win gives the Lady Wildcats a 10-3 record for the season heading into a busy week ahead as they travel to Marion on Tuesday, host Bennington on Thursday in a weather makeup game before closing out the week on Friday hosting Hutchinson Trinity.
Taking a six-point, 14-8, lead by the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats still held on to that lead at 19-13 heading into the halftime break. After Moundridge made it a seven-point lead at 33-26 after three quarters of play, the Lady Teutons made a valiant effort to rally for a win only to have the Lady Wildcats hold on for the final one-point victory.
The victory makes up for Inman beating Moundridge a week earlier 38-42 in the finals of the Sedgwick Tournament. The Lady Wildcats beat Inman 57-49 earlier in the season.
Cammi Unruh and Macy Kaminkow led the Lady Wildcat offense with 13 and 11 points, respectively. Eight Lady Wildcats put at least three points in the scorebook in the win.
