LADY WILDCATS MAKE SUB-STATE FINALS

Defeat Berean Academy by 18!!

MARION – On Thursday, the  Moundridge girls recorded an 18-point, 49-31, victory over Berean Academy at their Class 2A Sub-State Tournament, putting them in Saturday’s Sub-State finals or just one win from notching a trip to the State Tournament.

The win raises the sub-state second seeded Lady Wildcats season record to 19-3 as they now advance  to the Sub-State Championship game battle with top seed Hillsboro (21-1). Hillsboro beat Inman on Thursday, 46-40. Hillsboro played the Lady Wildcat’s in their second game of the season way back on December 5. Hillsboro  beat Moundridge 33-46 in the game.

Leading by five, 13-8, at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Wildcats extended the lead to seven, 35-15 at the halftime break, before cruising in for the final 18-point win.

Cammi Unruh and Hattie  Hecox led Moundridge in scoring with 17 and14 points, respectively. Unruh and Hecox plus Aspyn Stos led the team in rebounds with six each as the team grabbed 28 total rebounds of which 15 were offensive giving them many second chance point opportunities.
