Split Pair at Ell-Saline

ELL-SALINE – On Tuesday, the Moundridge High volleyball team went on the road to Ell-Saline and split a pair of matches, leaving them at 3-4 for the young season.

This comes after the Lady Wildcats opened the season on Saturday playing at the Lady Teuton Invitational in Inman where they finished 2-3 and tied for third.

The Lady Wildcats will make their 2023 home debut on Thursday when they play host to Hutchinson Trinity. Moundridge will be at home again on Tuesday, September 5 when Marion comes to town.

At Ell-Saline on Tuesday, Moundridge lost the opening match in straight sets. After losing by four, 21-25, in set one, the Lady Wildcats fell behind and could not catch up in set two, losing by 10, at 15-25.

Freshman Hallie Hecox and sophomore Cammi Unruh directed the Lady Wildcats with Hecox recording seven assists and Unruh getting four. Unruh plus sophomore Addysen Patrick and senior Kaelyn Wedel each made six digs as Moundridge recorded 36 in total. Unruh also had six kills.

In the second match of the twin bill, the Lady Wildcats bounced back and hammered out a ten point, 25-15, win in the first set with Ell-Saline before having to get extra points to get a two-point, 28-26 win and set sweep.

Cammi Unruh kicked out 12 of the teams 19 assists while also recording 15 digs and getting four service aces. Addysen Patrick had 12 digs and both Kaelyn Wedel and freshman Aspyn Stos each made seven. Hattie Hecox scored eleven of the teams 21 kills.
