TOWANDA – The Smoky Valley girls wrestling team traveled to the Circle Invitational on Friday and Saturday and came home as team champions along with a pair of individual first-place medalists as well.

 

Rolling up 145 team points, the Lady Vikings won the team championship while keeping more than 40 points ahead of second-place Frontenac with 101. After Frontenac, Douglass, Cherryvale, and McPherson rounded out the top five of 28 teams competing.

 

Individually, both Kenzlie Crain at 120 and Keira Mullen at 135 went 4-0 with all wins being by a fall for the day and took first place in their divisions. Mullen is currently ranked number one in the state for Class 4A.

 

Echo Clark Pavlovich finished second at 115 and Kate Griffin was third at 170.

 

Next up for the Lady Viking grapplers will be their Class 4A State Regionals next Saturday, February 10.

100 > Peyton Wesley finished 1-4, placed 6th.

110 > Roxanna Riedel finished 2-3, placed 6th.

115 > Echo Clark Pavlovich finished 3-1, placed 2nd.

120 > Kenzlie Crain finished 4-0, placed 1st.

125 > Taytum Reed finished 2-2.

135 > Keira Mullen finished 4-0, placed 1st.

140 > Kasyn French finished 2-3, placed 6th.

145 > Gemma Carter finished 2-3, placed 4th.

170 > Kate Griffin finished 4-1, placed 3rd.
