LADY VIKINGS SPLIT PAIR WITH HESSTON, PRATT

HESSTON – The Smoky Valley volleyball team went on the road Tuesday to Hesston and split a pair of matches with Hesston and Pratt.

In their first match of the day against Pratt the Lady Vikings scored a straight set victory, winning 25-15 and 25-21 as Adrian Hazelwood directed the offense by dishing out 20 of the teams 22 assists.

Other stat leaders against Pratt were Hope Duncan with 10 kills, Breanne Peters and Katja Blanchat getting eight and seven digs, respectively, and Duncan and Hazelwood both scoring three service aces.

Against host Hesston, the Lady Vikings scored a 25-17 win in the first set before falling by a total of seven points in dropping the final two sets, 22-25 and 21-25.

Hazelwood again directed the Smoky Valley offense with 25 of the teams 28 assists, along with Duncan making 12 kills and Tinley Scott pounding out 15 digs.

With the split, the Lady Vikings are now 20-10 on the season as they close out the regular season on Tuesday, October 17 at Chapman with a triangular involving Chapman and Nickerson.
