Blanchat Earns Double/Double

HALSTEAD – On Friday in the final game before the Christmas break, the Smoky Valley girls lost a heartbreaker on the road at Halstead, losing at a game ending buzzer shot 39-42.
The Lady Vikings ran out to an eight point, 11-3 lead by the end of the first quarter and despite the effort by Halstead, hung on to a two-point, 20-18 advantage at the halftime break.
While Smoky Valley held on to a one-point, 34-33, lead at the end of the third quarter, Halstead managed to tie the game and then hit a three-pointer at the game ending buzzer to hand the Lady Vikings the final three-point loss.
A look at the stats and the Lady Vikings dominated the boards by grabbing a whopping 39 rebounds to just 26 for Halstead with 29 of those rebounds coming on the defensive end of th game.
Katja Blanchat had a huge game as she recorded a double/double with scoring 15 points and pulling down 11 rebounds while Tinley Scott also scored 15 much thanks to making three three-pointers.
