HALSTEAD – On Tuesday the Smoky Valley volleyball team traveled to Halstead and dropped a pair of hard fought, close matches to Halstead and Southeast of Saline.
With the pair of losses, the Lady Vikings are now 17-9 heading into the final few weeks of the 2023 season.
Against Southeast of Saline, Smoky Valley lost by three in set one (22-25) and by eight in set two (17-25) as Adrian Hazelwood dished out 10 assists and Hope Duncan recorded seven kills.
In the late match with Halstead, the Lady Vikings went to three sets before losing with none of the sets being decided by more than three points as they won the first set 25-22, then lost set two 22-25 and set three 24-26.
Hazelwood did yeoman’s work running the offense by handing out 32 assists. Duncan pounded out 18 digs and recorded 17 kills.
