Mullen Finishes 9-0, Pair of Golds

LINDSBORG – In a busy couple of meets, the Smoky Valley girls wrestling performed well by finishing third on Tuesday at the Central Kansas League Meet and taking second at the Remington Invitational on Friday.
At the League Meet on Tuesday, the Lady Vikings finished third with 124 points. Pratt won the league title with 172 points while Hoisington finished second just three points ahead of Smoky Valley. Larned and Halstead rounded out the top five of the ten team meet.
Keira Mullen, the second ranked wrestler in Class 4-3-2-1A by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association, won a league title by going 5-0 at 135.
Kasyn French, wrestling at 140 also gained a first-place medal by going 5-0 as well. Magdalene Riedel, wrestling extra at 145, went 5-0 and took first place.
Kenzlie Crain at 120, Gemma Carter at 145, and Kate Griffin at 170 all earned second place medals.
On Friday at the Remington Invitational the Lady Vikings scored 100.5 team points which placed them second behind invite champion Wellington with 126.5. Lyons, Clearwater, and Augusta rounded out the top five of nine teams competing.
Keira Mullen continued a strong week of wrestling as she went 4-0 to gain a first-place medal at 140. Both Gemma Carter at 145 and Kate Griffin at 170 also won their divisions.
Roxanna Riedel at 110, Kenzlie Crain at 120, and Kasyn French at 140 each placed second in their divisions.
Next up for the Lady Viking wrestlers will be on Friday and Saturday, February 2 and 3 on the road in Towanda at the Circle Invitational.
