LADY VIKING TENNIS FINISH 4TH AT LEAGUE MEET

Norberg/Heline win #1 Doubles

LINDSBORG – It was a good day for Smoky Valley girls tennis on Saturday as they hosted the Central Kansas League Meet and finished fourth as a team with number one doubles getting a league championship.


Fifty-three points is what the Lady Vikings mustered in the meet, putting them in fourth place for the team standings where Hesston and Larned tied for the league championship and Pratt finished third out of nine teams participating.


The duo of Kayla Norberg and Lily Heline came into the event seeded second at number one doubles and plowed through four matches unbeaten to win the league championship.


At number two doubles, the tandem of Kelsee Adam and KJ Leis also entered the tournament seeded second, won two of three matches to finish third.


The Smoky Valley entrees at singles finished sixth and fifth.


Next up for the Lady Viking tennis team will be on Friday, October 6 and Saturday, October 7 in Marysville for the Class 3-1A State Tennis Regionals.

#1 SINGLES > Jill Hett (seeded 6th) = lost, won, won, lost – finished 2-2 = 6th.


#2 SINGLES > Madelyn Mauck (seeded 5th) = lost, won, won, won - finished 3-1 = 5th.


#1 DOUBLES > Kayla Norberg / Lily Heline (seeded 2nd) = won, won, won, won – finished 4-0 = 1st.


#2 DOUBLES > Kelsee Adam / KJ Leis (seeded 2nd) = won, lost, won – finished 2-1 = 3rd.
