LADY TEUTONS WIN TWO ON FRIDAY

INMAN – The Inman softball team moved to 7-1 on the season Friday as they hosted Bennington and scored a  clean sweep of the doubleheader, winning 10-2 and then 12-11 in eight innings.

In game one, the Lady Teutons were trailing 0-2 after four innings but rolled across four runs in the fifth and six  in the sixth to get the final 10-2 victory.

Led by Lyla Levin, who needed just 81 pitches in holding Bennington to just two hits and one walk while striking out nine. Levin also had a pair of hits including a two-run triple and a double. Savannah Smith, Marlee Ballard and Avery Schrag each had two hits as well. With Smith, Olivia Bradley and Schrag also pounding out doubles.

In the nightcap, Inman had a 7-2 lead after two innings, then Bennington caught up and tied the game at 10-10 after in the seventh innings before the Lady Teutons scored twice in the bottom of the eighth  to get the win on an Alexis Noone double.

Lyla Levin and Noon shared time on the mound, where they combined to walk six and strike out eight.

At the plate, Marlee Ballard went 4-of-5 with three runs batted in to lead the Lady Teutons, while Taylor Froese went 3-of-4 with three runs batted in as well. Ellie Thimmesch also had three hits in the game while Lyla Levin and Savannah Smith each had two.

The lady Teutons were scheduled to be on the road at Canton/Galva on Tuesday and then back on the road to Little River on Friday.
