PRATT – In Pratt at the Kansas Class 2-1A State Tournament on Thursday, the Inman softball team scored a first round 10-3 win over Thomas More Prep/Marion of Hays to earn  a spot in the state semi-finals on Friday at 11:00 am.

Now 18-4 for the season, the fourth seeded Lady Teutons will now play top-seeded McLouth who won their first game 15-0 over Pratt/Skyline. McLouth will bring a record of 26-2 into  the game with Inman. Thomas More Prep/Marion finished their season 21-9.

The other Class 2-1A semi-final will match second seed Dexter/Cedar Vale (23-3) playing third seed Onaga (20-4). Dexter/Cedar Vale won their first game 4-2 over Pittsburgh St. Mary’s Colgan and  Onaga defeated Richmond/Central Heights, 5-2.

Inman spotted the Lady Monarchs a two-run lead after the first inning, before the Lady Teutons scored eight times over the next three innings, including a six-run second inning. Adding a single run in the sixth, the Lady Monarchs gave up two more runs to Inman  in the sixth as well, giving the Lady Teutons the final 10-3 victory.

In the third inning, the Lady Teutons got their six runs off as Ellie Thimmesch pounded out a home run plus a single by Brooke Aden. Lyla Levin hit a double as well.

Levin  had a strong game on the mound for the Lady Teutons as she threw 92 pitches over seven innings, 65 of which were strikes, and gave up just five hits, three earned runs, walking none and striking out seven.

At the plate, Savannah Smith, and Ellie Thimmesch each had a pair of hits with Thimmesch, Chesney Black, and Aden each providing a pair of runs batted in. Thimmesch, Taylor Froese, Levin, and  Marlee Ballard each scored twice.
