LADY TEUTONS WIN, ADVANCE AT 2-1A REGIONALS

LEVIN THROWS 1-HITTER, FROESE HITS HOME RUN

MARION – On Tuesday, the Inman Lady Teuton softball team hammered Sedgwick for a 17-1 win at their Class 2-1A state regionals in Marion.

The win boosts the Lady Teuton season record to 15-4 as they get ready to play county rival Canton/Galva on Wednesday in the regional semi-finals. Inman swept a doubleheader from Canton/Galva in mid-April.

Against Sedgwick, the Lady Teutons spotted Sedgwick a 1-0 lead after the first inning before they erupted for 10 runs in the second inning and then added four in the third and three more in the fourth to reach the run-rule and get the 16-run victory.

The Lady Teuton bats were led by Taylor Froese as she went three-for-four with a triple in the second, a single in the third and an inside-the-park home run in the fourth. Froese finished with three runs batted in, three runs scored and a stolen base as well.

Ellie Thimmesch, Allison Schrag, Lyla Levin,  Chesney Black, Brooke Aden, Olivia Bradley each chipped in with a pair of hits including doubles by Bradley, Levin, and Thimmesch.

Lyla Levin had a monster night on the mound as she used just 50 pitches in getting the win while giving up just one run and one hit to go with a pair of walks and six strikeouts.
