LADY TEUTONS ROLL TO REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Heflin Win 2 Events - -  9 Individuals, 3 Relays Make State

EUREKA – Thursday, the Inman track/field teams went to Eureka for their Class 2A State Regionals and the Lady Teutons rolled to a team championship that included nine state qualifiers in 11 individual events plus two relay teams.

The Lady Teutons scored 134 team points, more 43 points ahead of Garden Plain who finished second with 91.  Moundridge claimed third and in a tie for fourth, Remington and Sterling rounded out the top five in the team standings.

Leading the Lady Teutons was Madilyn Heflin who won both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles along with Morgan Froese winning the discus and Taylor Froese taking first in the shot put. Faith Baxter winning the 100 meter wheelchair run gave the Inman girls five regional champions.

Three Lady Teutons earned state qualification in three individual events as Chloe Schmidt qualified in the discus, javelin, and  shot put while Katie Nichols will jump at state in the high jump, long jump and triple jump. The third triple individual state qualifier came from Brooklyn Black who qualified in the 100 meters as well as both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles.

Inman also qualified for state in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays as they finished overall with state qualifiers in 13 events.

The Inman boys did not fare as well as they only state qualified in the 4x800 relay.
