Finish season 25-1, State Runner-Up

By Staff
They went unbeaten through the regular season and had 25 straight wins heading into the Class 1A Division I state championship game on Saturday, before the Little River girls found themselves in a stone-cold game of offense in the second half against Frankfort and lost for the first time, 41-47.
It was running smoothly in the first half of the state championship game as the Lady Redskins hit on 42% of their shots from the field and held an eight-point, 18-10, first quarter lead before pushing out to a 12-point, 33-21, advantage as the teams hit the halftime break.
Coming out of the intermission, Little River went artic cold as they made just 12% of 25 shots from the field in the final two quarters while Frankfort, the sixth seed of the tournament, connected on 56% enabling the Lady Wildcats to not only catch up but take a four-point, 33-37, lead by the end of the third quarter and then take the state crown by six, 41-47.
It did not help that even the normal dominance in the paint for the Lady Redskins suffered as Frankfort out rebounded them 23-33.
Of the eight Lady Redskins to score in the game, only Alaina Eck reached double digits with 14 points. Freshman Arika Feldman chipped in with eight while leading Little River on the boards with six rebounds.
