4 Hit Double Digits in Team Effort

GOESSEL – On Friday evening, the Little River girls served no doubts as to why they are unbeaten three games into the season as they rolled over Canton/Galva 79-22 at the Goessel Bluebird Classic.

 

Little River raced out to a 15-point, 22-7 lead at the end of the first quarter before putting up another 28 points in the second quarter to take a commanding 50-17 advantage into the halftime break.  Scoring another 29 points in the second half while holding the Lady Eagles to just five pushed the Lady Redskins out to their final 57-point win.

Offensively the Lady Redskins hit 55% on their two-point shots and connected on 44% of the 25 shots from beyond the three-point line. 

 

Four Little River players hit for double digits with Aubrey Olander scoring 18, Kate Ellwood made five three-pointers to finish with 1t5, Alaina Eck connected on three threes’ to finish with 14 points and Arika Feldman finished with 13. Nine total Lady Redskins scored at least three points and five recorded at least one three pointer.

 

Aubrey Olander may have led the team in rebounds with six, the remaining 23 recorded rebounds were divided among ten other Lady Redskins.

 

Playing a true team game, Little River recorded 22 assists on 27 made shots from the field with those assists being shared by all twelve players suited for the game. Havana Olander may not have scored in the game, but her presence was felt as she led the team in steals with five with her older sister Aubrey swiping four.

 

The Lady Redskins will close out their play in the Goessel Bluebird Classic on Saturday against Hanover.
