LITTLE RIVER – With a makeup game win on Saturday at Goessel and a home court win over Canton/Galva on Tuesday, the Little River girls are now 16-0 for the season and still ranked number one in Class 1A Division I.

 

On Saturday at Goessel the Lady Redskins jumped out to an early 22-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and held a commanding 45-9 advantage at the halftime break from which they then outscored Goessel 23-8 in the final two quarters to earn the final 68-17 victory.

 

Aubrey Olander led Little River in scoring with 15 and Arika Feldman joined her in double digits with 12. Three Lady Redskins – Havana Olander, Kate Ellwood, and Ashley Stephenson, all just missed double digits with nine points each.

 

Stephenson and Alaina Eck directed much of the offense by dishing out six and five assists, respectively while sisters Aubrey and Havana Olander both topped the team in rebounds with six each.

 

Tuesday, Little River hosted Canton/Galva and put a 72-28 win in the books.

 

Arika Feldman had a huge game with a game high 21 points thanks to hitting on four three-pointers while also grabbing five rebounds, making four steals, and blocking two shots.

 

Alaina Eck with 18 and Aubrey Olander with 14 also reached double digits in scoring. Aubrey Olander led the team and game in rebounding with eight while Eck had quick hands-on defense by swiping nine balls.

 

Next up will be a road trip on Friday to Elyria Christian who is riding a current 10-game win streak.
