GOESSEL – The Little River girls closed out the 2023 Goessel Bluebird Classic on Saturday with a battle of the top teams in both Class 1A Division I, the Lady Redskins, and Class 1A Division II in Hanover, with the Lady Redskins coming out with a six-point, 49-43 win.

With the win the Lady Redskins remain unbeaten after four games as they prep to close out the pre-Christmas part of their schedule with games on Tuesday at Moundridge and a home battle against Wakefield on Friday.

Little River held a slim two-point, 13-11 lead after the first quarter and edged out to a six-point, 28-22 advantage by the halftime break.

Both teams scored 13 points in the third quarter and then both added eight points to the scoreboard in the final eight minutes of action to give the Lady Redskins their final six-point victory.

Arika Feldman led all Little River scorers with 14 points while both Alaina Eck and Aubrey Olander each contributed a dozen points. Aubrey Olander scored a double-double in the game as she led the team in rebounds by pulling down 10.

It was another team effort as ten Lady Redskins pulled down at least one or two rebounds or more in the game along with eight dished out at least one of the team’s 12 assists on just 18 shots made from the field. Little River also had seven players record at least one steal along with both Arika Feldman and Havana Olander each recording four of the team’s 12 blocked shots.
