LADY REDSKINS HANDLE ELLINWOOD IN TWO-GAME SWEEP

Little River won 8-6 and 15-5!!

LITTLE RIVER – On Tuesday, the Little River softball team remained unbeaten at 4-0 with a clean sweep of a home doubleheader over Ellinwood, winning 8-6and 15-5.

 

In game one, Little River was up by one, 2-1 after three innings before Ellinwood scored a run in both the  fourth and fifth innings to take a 2-3 lead before the Lady Redskins pushed six runs across in the bottom of the sixth  and then held off a three run rally by Ellinwood to gain the final two-run, 8-6 victory.

 

Ella Stansbury and Payton Harrington each had a pair of hits for the Lady Redskins while Stansbury and Kate Hendrickson each earned credit for a pair of runs batted in.

 

The Lady Redskins hammered out four doubles in the game from Jailyn Millar, Kinsley Wohletz, Harrington, and Stansbury.

 

Kinsley Wohletz manned the mound for Little River and needed 107 pitches over seven innings to get the win. Wohletz gave up five hits, just one earned run as the team committed five errors, while walking four and striking out eleven.

 

Ella Stansbury had another strong outing in game two as  she led the Lady Redskins offense with three hits, including another double, three runs batted in, a pair of stolen bases while also scoring four times in the team’s 15-5 win.

 

After Little River ran out to an 8-1 lead after two innings, Ellinwood pulled back to within three at 8-5 after a four-run top of the third inning. The Lady Redskins added five more runs in the bottom of the third and then secured the win with two more in the bottom of the fourth to gain the final ten-run, 15-5 victory.

 

Katie Collins and Kinsley Wohletz also collected three hits in the game while Jailyn Millar pitched for the Lady Redskins and struck out ten while walking seven and throwing 107 pitches.

 

The Lady Redskins will take their unbeaten 4-0 mark to Sterling for a doubleheader on Thursday.
