Alcala, Orth, Espinoza lead Stats

HERINGTON – On Saturday, the Canton/Galva volleyball team played in the Herington Invitational where they finished third overall by winning three matches and losing twice.

In a match with Salina Sacred Heart the Lady Eagles won in three sets (25-15, 20-25, 25-20) led by Adi Alcala dishing out 26 assists, Jaydn Orth making 17 digs and Raegan Hawkinson scoring 11 kills.

In the loss to host Herington in straight sets (14-25, 12-25), Canton/Galva was led by Hawkinson with eight digs and Alcala who passed out 10 assists.

Bouncing back to score a straight set domination over Council Grove (25-11, 25-22) the Lady Eagles leaned on 14 assists by Alcala, nine kills from Trinity Espinoza, and half a dozen digs by Jayden Orth.

Sedgwick got the best of the Lady Eagles in straight sets (14-25, 13-25) before bouncing back and scoring a hard fought three set final win over Wichita Homeschool (25-18, 17-25, 25-21).

Against Wichita Homeschool the Lady Eagles were led by Alcala with 29 assists, Trinity Espinoza who made 17 digs and scored 17 kills.

Overall, for the five-match invitational, Adi Alcala dished out 87 assists, and Trinity Espinoza made 42 kills. Raegan Hawkinson chipped in with 25 kills and Hailey Barton had 18. Jayden Orth topped the team on the day for digs with 45 while Trinity Espinoza had 37, Hawkinson made 36 and Alcala scored 24.

Now 11-11 for the season the Lady Eagles were scheduled to play at Goessel on Tuesday along with Wakefield.
