LADY BULLPUP SPIKERS SPLIT PAIR AT CIRCLE

Lose to Circle, Beat Winfield

TOWANDA – Tuesday, the McPherson high volleyball team traveled to Towanda for a triangular hosted by Circle and including Winfield where they split a pair of matches leaving their season mark now at 7-2.


In their first match with Circle, the Lady Bullpups were humbled in set one, losing 13-25 before battling back and losing by just two points, 24-26 in set two.


Against Winfield, McPherson dominated the first set winning 25-13 but then had to hold off the Lady Vikings in the second set by three points at 25-22, giving the Lady Bullpups a straight set victory.


Alex Romero directed the Lady Bullpup offense most of the day and dished out a total of 32 assists while also getting in on a pair of blocks.


Having a top all-around night was Ava Romero who shared the team lead in kills with Haely Hagemann as they each had 13 though Ava Romero also led the team in blocks with four, made eight digs and scored six service aces.


Others with strong matches on the day were Addison Chapman and Brooke Doile who each had seven kills, Cora Pavlovich scored four service aces, and both Chapman and Hagemann had three service aces, respectively.


Doile topped the team in making digs with 15 and Chapman made 11.


Next up for the Lady Bullpup spikers will be a home triangular with Rose Hill and Augusta on Tuesday, September 12.
