LADY BULLPUP GOLFERS TAKE 5TH AT REGIONALS

KUHN PLACES 10TH – QUALIFIES FOR STATE

WAMEGO – On Monday, the McPherson girls golf team went to Wamego for their Class 4A state regional golf tournament where they finished fifth as a team and had one individual golfer qualify for state.

“Our season did not end the way any of us wanted or expected,” noted Lady Bullpup head coach Treg Fawl. “We had such a great season filled with record breaking performances and great golf. It was simply not our day.”

As a team, the Lady Bullpups finished fifth with 425 strokes, eight strokes from qualifying for state as a team. The Regional was won by host Wamego with a 367 while Topeka Hayden, Buhler and Eudora rounded out the top four teams that qualified for state.

Individually, sophomore Brodie Kuhn placed tenth by shooting a 92, qualifying her for the state tournament next Monday and Tuesday, October 16-17, in Salina. There were 63 total golfers.

Junior Reese Elliott just missed qualifying for state with her placing twentieth, shooting a 106, just one stroke from qualifying for state.

Coach Fawl concluded his post-regional reflections by stating, “The girls played hard and battled to the very end. I am proud of every single one of them. Thank you to our six seniors who have played the past two seasons to help get this program going in the right direction.”
