LADY BULLPUP GOLFERS HAVE STRONG WEEKEND

Finish 6th at Hutchinson, JV places 3rd at League

MCPHERSON – It was busy couple of days for McPherson girls golf coach Treg Fawl as he guided the Lady Bullpup varsity squad to a sixth-place finish at the 19 team, Hutchinson Invitational on Thursday before hosting the AVCTL (Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League) Junior Varsity Tournament on Friday.

In Hutchinson, the Lady Bullpups finished sixth, shooting a 363 as Manhattan won the tournament with a 322 followed by Maize, Wellington, Hays, and Andover rounding out the top five of nineteen teams and 119 golfers competing.

“This tournament had some great competition with some bigger schools,” noted Lady Bullpup head coach Treg Fawl. “It was set up difficult as Carey Park is hosting the Class 5A State Championship this fall.”

Leading the Lady Bullpups was Brodie Kuhn who finished tied for twelfth after shooting an 84. Olivia Cheatham tied for twenty-ninth with 89 in one of her best tournaments of the season. All but one McPherson golfer finished in the top-fifty of the 119 golfers participating.

We placed 6th out of 19 teams. This tournament had some great competition with some bigger schools. It was set up difficult as Carey Park is hosting the 5A State Championship this fall and had it set-up similar to a state championship tournament.

Next up for the varsity Lady Bullpup golfers will be the AVCTL Tournament on Tuesday, October 3 in Derby, followed by state regionals on Monday, October 9 in Wamego.

On Friday, the junior varsity Lady Bullpups hosted the junior varsity league tournament at Turkey Creek where they finished third as a team.

Two McPherson golfers made the top-ten as Kaya Lowery finished third and Addison French placed ninth. Six Junior Varsity golfers placed in the top 20 out of 39 participating.
