KUHN PLACES 5TH AT MCPHERSON INVITATIONAL

MCPHERSON – On Thursday, the McPherson High girls golf team held their own Invitational at Turkey Creek Golf Course and finished third for the day as a team while Brodie Kuhn placed in a tie for fifth individually with a score of 80.

While finishing third as a team, the Lady Bullpups shot a 350, breaking another school record. Topeka Hayden won the team event with a 325 while Pratt finished second just two strokes ahead of the Lady Bullpups. Wellington and Buhler rounded out the top five of ten teams competing. Other teams competing were Independence, Kapaun Mount-Carmel, Marysville, Valley Center and Clay Center.

Individually, Brodie Kuhn landed tied for fifth while Reese Elliott shot a personal record 84 and finished eighth. Olivia Cheatham continued to improve as she shot another personal record 91 and tied for fifteenth.

“I am proud of all 21 girls that golfed,” noted Lady Bullpup head coach Treg Fawl. “It was a big step in our program to have so many kids out there playing tournament style golf.”

Next up for the Lady Bullpup golfers will be at El Dorado on Thursday and at Hesston on Friday.

Coach Fawl finished his reflections on the home invitational by adding, “Brodie (Kuhn) continues to show she is one of the better golfers in the state. Reese (Elliott) keeps getting better and better as her 84 was an outstanding score. Olivia Cheatham and Macy Rinker stepped up and played well for the team as well. We are looking forward to a lot of golf coming up in the next four weeks.”
