LADY BULLPUP GOLFERS FINISH 2ND IN SEASON OPENER

KUHN TIES FOR 5TH

DERBY – On Monday the McPherson High girls golf team kicked off their second season of competition in Derby at the 10-team Derby Lady Panther Invitational where the Lady Bullpups finished second.

With 10 teams and 64 golfers participating, the Lady Bullpups finished tied with Andover at 192 for second place as Maize won the team standings with 175. Rounding out the top five were Goddard Eisenhower and Hutchinson.

“I am proud of how our team performed in the first event of the season,” noted Lady Bullpup head coach Treg Fawl. “Reese Elliott was a great surprise for us today. As her coach, seeing how hard she worked this summer I am not shocked. She missed out of the top six at the end of the season in 2022 and has put in the work.”

Individually, McPherson was led by Brodie Kuhn who finished in a tie for fifth while Reese Elliott placed eleventh and Andi Buschbom tied for twelfth.

Closing out his reflections of the 2023 season opening golf event, coach Fawl added, “It was nice to get out in a tournament setting again. The goal is to get better each day and continue to become more comfortable playing in a tournament golf environment.”

Next up for the Lady Bullpup golfers will come on Tuesday, September 5 when the varsity plus three junior varsity players will be in Salina while the junior varsity team will travel to Haysville/Campus.
