JUNIOR BULLPUP GRAPPLERS OPEN AT WINFIELD

27 Wrestlers go 19-21

WINFIELD – The McPherson Middle School wrestling opened their 2023-24 season on Monday by taking 27 wrestlers to a five school meet in Winfield.

Other school participating were Winfield, Haysville West, Prairie Hills and Wellington.

For the Junior Pups, they finished the meet scoring 19 wins while losing 21 times.

Three McPherson wrestlers went 2-0 for the day, Ace Achele at 85, Madison Burke at 105, and Carter Leathers at 215.

Six Junior Pups went 1-0 on the day including Jake Evans at 95, Seth Turner 110, Colt Harlin at 148 plus Ethan Young, Luke Farley and Obi Stevenson all wrestling at 134.

The Junior Pup wrestlers will be back on the competitive mat on Saturday in Goddard at a nine-school invitational. Other schools expected to be at the meet include Goddard, Goddard Eisenhower, Hutchinson, Andover, Andover Central, Rose Hill, Valley Center and Winfield.
