LADY TEUTONS TOP SEED AT CLASS 2A STATE TOURNAMENT

            INMAN – On Saturday, the Inman  volleyball team will play as  the top seed in the Class 2A State Tournament in Dodge City after winning both regionals and sub-state.

As the top-seed, the Lady Teutons will carry a 39-2 record into the tournament and play eighth-seed Wichita Central Christian Academy (23-17), fifth-seed Oakley (30-9) and fourth-seed Shawnee/Maranath Christian Academy (37-6) in their pool play.

The Lady Teutons finished fourth at the 2023 state tournament.

Other teams in the state tournament will be second seed Ellinwood (39-3), sixth seed Blue Rapids/Valley Heights (29-9), third seed Sedgwick (36-5),  and seventh seed Highland/Doniphan West (27-12).

On Monday last week the Lady Teutons won their regional meet with wins over Solomon, Berean Academy, and Wabaunsee, all in straight sets.

The win over Solomon (25-8, 25-4) was dominate as Ellie Thimmesch passed out 10 assists, both Suttyn Harris and Kenna Woods scored 12 digs, Taylor Froese had five serve aces and Harris made nine kills.

In the straight set victory over Berean Academy (25-15, 25-18), Taylor Froese handed out 15 assists, Morgan Froese made 11 blocks, Adi Alcala had nine digs and  both Suttyn Harris and Kenna Woods scored eight kills.

With Wabaunsee, it was another straight set win (25-12, 25-13) as Taylor Froese made 11 assist, Adi Alcala punched out 10 digs, and Suttyn Harris made four serve aces and seven kills.

Hosting sub-state on Saturday, Inman first put away Hillsboro in straight sets (25-16, 25-15) as Suttyn Harris recorded 13 kills, Ellie Thimmesch had 12 assists and both Adi Alcala and Kenna Woods made 10 digs while Morgan Froese forced eight blocks.

In the match that qualified them for state, the Lady Teutons held off county rival Moundridge with a straight set 25-17, 25-17 victory.

Leading the team to the win was Ellie Thimmesch with 11 assists, Suttyn Harris with 11 digs and 12 kills, and Morgan Froese pounded back seven blocks.
