MCCLELLAN, BIGLER, BRUNK LEAD TEUTONS TO 25-6 WIN

            WICHITA – On Friday, the Inman football team traveled to Wichita to battle Wichita Trinity Academy where the Teutons scored once in each quarter in bringing home a 25-6 victory.

            No 2-0 for the season, the Teutons got on the scoreboard in the first quarter when senior  quarterback Caleb Bigler connected with sophomore Korbyn McClellan for a 59-yard scoring pass play. Malachi Brunk, just a sophomore,  followed up with a three-yard scoring run in the second quarter as Inman took a 13-0 advantage into the halftime break.

 

            McClellan scored again on a seven-yard run in the third quarter before the Knights finally found the end zone on a 68-yard pass play to make the game 19-5 in favor of the Teutons heading into the final quarter of play.

 

            McClellan scored for the third time  in the game on a short three-yard dive into the end zone in the fourth quarter to close out the Inman scoring and secure the  final 19-point, 25-6 victory.

 

            Overall, the game was an even battle as Inman totaled up 314 yard in offense on 63 plays while Trinity Academy recorded 320 yards in offense on 59 plays with the Teutons getting 18 first downs and the Knights making 14.

 

            For Inman, they ran the ball for 184 yards while Bigler finished the outing completing seven of sixteen passes for 130 yards and no interceptions.

           

            The game was so evenly played that when flagged for penalties, both teams received nine with Inman being penalized a minus-82 and Trinity a minus-80.

 

            McClellan led the Teutons in both rushing and receiving, running  eight times for 60 yards, and pulling in three passes for 78. Malachi Brunk ran the ball a dozen times for 52 yards and caught three Bigler passes for 47 yards.

 

            On defense, Brunk totaled nine tackles and Cooper Wiens had 5.5 with both Sebastian Martinez and Gage Sisson each recording four. Wiens also had 1.5 sacks, and McClellan made a pass interception.

 

            The Teutons will return to the home field on Friday, September 20 when they play host to Sterling. The Black Bears will come into the game looking for their first win of the season at 0-2 after losing 28-7 to Moundridge on Friday.
