MINNEAPOLIS – A huge fourth quarter pushed the Inman boys basketball team to a season opening six-point, 43-37 win on the road at Minneapolis on Friday.

“Our team started the game on Friday playing well,” noted new Teuton head coach Cody Liebelt. “We hit some shots and were able to get some things going.”

After gaining a two-point, 15-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter, the Teutons allowed Minneapolis to tie the game at 22-22 going into the halftime break.

Coming out of the break, Inman was ice, ice cold and scored no  points in the third quarter, allowing Minneapolis to gain a 12-point, 34-22, lead heading into the fourth quarter where the Teutons offense put 21 points on the board while holding Minneapolis to just three to erase the deficit and earn the final six-point, 43-37 victory.

Talking about that final two quarters of play, coach Liebelt said, “We did  not score in the third quarter and for a few minutes of the fourth. We were down 11 or 12  points, but our kids did not quit.”

Kru Harris led the Teutons on offense with 15 points while Malachi Brunk and Carston Seidl each hit a pair of three pointers while finishing with 11 and 10 points, respectively.  Caleb Bigler led Inman in the paint by grabbing six rebounds.

Coach Liebelt concluded his season opener  reflections by adding, “We  made some adjustments, and the kids fought until the end. We finished the fourth quarter playing very well and were able to get the win. I am very proud of our grit and resilience.”
