LOST SPRINGS – On Saturday, the Elyria Christian volleyball team scored three straight wins to capture their Class 1A Division II Sub-State tournament in Lost Springs to qualify for the State Tournament in Emporia.


By winning their sub-state, the Lady Eagles are ow 23-15 and will be the seventh seed at the state Class 1A Division II tournament in Emporia on Friday and Saturday, October 27-28.


Elyria will be in pool two along with Beloit St. John’s/Tipton, Argonia, and Sharon Springs/Wallace County.


Pool one will have top-seed Lebo plus Hanover, Granfield/Wheatland/Grinnell and Bucklin.


At Sub-State, the Lady Eagles swept Burrton in their first match in straight sets (25-18 / 25-10) as Laney Reiff dished out 15 assists Brooke Davidson had nine kills and two blocks with Julia Allen and Raegan Broadus recording 15 and 11 digs respectively.


It took three sets to gain the win in match two against host Centre (24-26 / 25-6 / 25-16) as Laney Reiff passed out 33 assists, Brook Davidson had 20 kills and Macy Reiff made 28 digs.


In the match with Hutchinson Central Christian that put them in the state tournament, the Lady Eagles won in straight sets (25-20 / 25-19). Julia Allen, Macy Reiff and Addison Swenson led the team in digs with 16, 14, and 12, respectively.
