Lady Eagles Take Down Centre & Wichita Defenders Homeschoolers

ELYRIA – The Elyria Christian volleyball team continued its good fortunes for the 2023 season on Tuesday by winning a pair of matches at home over Centre and the Wichita Defender Homeschoolers.

With the wins the Lady Eagles are now 4-0 in the young season before they head into a busy week with a Saturday Tournament at Solomon followed by a road trip to Centre next Tuesday for a quad with Centre, Goessel and Canton/Galva.

On Tuesday, the Lady Eagles took care of Centre in a pair of close sets, winning 25-22 and 25-21.

Sophomore Laney Reiff directed the Elyria offense by dishing out 19 assists while juniors Reagan Broadhus and Addison Swenson did the tough work by knocking out 19 and 17 digs, respectively.

Against the Wichita Defender Homeschoolers, the Lady Eagles had to go three sets to get the match win, winning the first set 25-17 before the Defenders won 21-25 in the second set. Elyria bounced back and dominated the third set, winning 25-14 for the match victory.

Laney Reiff again directed the offensive attack by dishing out another 18 assists and Broadhus led the team in digs with 17 though Laney Reiff pitched in with 14 and Addison Swenson knocked out 10. Brooke Davidson made 13 of the teams 25 kills.
