ELYRIA – Thanks to a monster game by Grace Prescott, the Elyria Christian girls closed out their December schedule with a huge win over Solomon on Friday, December 19.
It helped to ease the pain from the previous six losses in the month, including one to Remington on Tuesday, December 16.
Against Remington, the Lady Eagles lost by 30, 24-54 despite only trailing by 15-28 at halftime.
According to Lady Eagle head coach Greg Fields, “It took a while to adjust to Remington’s defense, size and athleticism. I felt we competed with them most of the second and third quarters. Haven (Bower) and Amelia (Moody) had solid efforts rebounding tonight, both finishing with six. They are getting aggressive against bigger players and not letting themselves be intimidated.”
Joy Pyle led the team by scoring with 11.
In the final game of 2025, the Lady Eagles got it done – they recorded a win as they beat Solomon 51-21!!
“It was encouraging to get a solid win as we went into the Christmas break,” noted coach Fields. “I was happy with the effort the girls put on the court against Solomon. We scored a lot of points from transitions coming off forcing 21 steals.
Grace Prescott had a huge game, nearly made a triple-triple as she led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 22, made 10 steals playing defense and dished out seven assists directing the offense. Joy Pyle had another solid game with 17 points and five steals while Amelia Moody led the team in rebounding with seven,
Elyria will take a 1-6 record into the January part of the schedule, beginning with a battle on Monday, January 5 with the Reno County Sabres, followed by a visit from Rural Vista on Tuesday, January 6 and then a trip across county to Canton/Galva on Friday, January 9.
