SOLOMON – The youthful Elyria Christian girls did it again, they won their second game in a row on Friday on the road at Solomon with a 13 point, 32-19 victory.

The Lady Eagles held a five-point, 7-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and extended it out to 14 at 19-5 going into the halftime break. While Solomon tried to chip away at the lead in the third quarter, the Lady Eagles hung on for the final 13-point win.

“I was really happy with the persistence of our girls tonight,” explained Lady Eagle head coach Greg Fields. “It took some time to get warmed up on offense, but once we created some turnovers and picked up the intensity on defense, they were able to create more opportunities to get open looks both in transition and in the half court sets.”

While Solomon did out rebound Elyria, the Elyria girls also shot better from the field and their defense caused more turnovers than they had themselves.

Julia Allen led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 10, in assists with three and tied with MaKenna Cass for team high in rebounds with four.

Coach Fields concluded his post-game thoughts by adding, “Julia (Allen) had a really nice night. Her ten points were crucial, but she was very active defensively all game. Both Grace (Prescott) and Addison (Swenson) did a good job controlling the ball on offense and creating turnovers on defense.”

Next up for the Lady Eagles will come on Monday when they go on the road to Hutchinson Central Christian.
