Lady Eagles Own a 7 Game Winning Streak

By Staff
ELYRIA – The Elyria Christian girls continue to roll as they hosted Wakefield on Tuesday and scored a decisive 20-point, 36-16 win.
With the victory, the Lady Eagles have now won seven games in a row and nine of the last 10 after starting the season 0-4. Elyria travels to Herington on Friday.
“We were happy to get another league win,” noted Lady Eagle head coach Greg Fields. “Wakefield has decent size and athleticism, but our girls came out early with an aggressive defense that set the tone for the game. I was pleased with our ability to stay focused on switching different defenses quickly after a couple of strange weeks where we missed some quality practice time and dealt with illness.”
On Tuesday, the Lady Eagles held a four-point, 10-6 lead at the end of the first quarter before gaining a 14-point, 24-10 advantage heading into the halftime break after which they cruised in for the final 20-point victory.
Addison Swenson and Grace Prescott topped the team in scoring with 12 points each. Prescott also topped the team in assists with four and steals by swiping five. Swenson and Joy Pyle led the Lady Eagles in the paint as they both grabbed five rebounds and Pyle also blocked three shots.
Coach Fields concluded his post-game reflections by adding, “Both Grace (Prescott) and Addison (Swenson) had very solid games. Grace distributed the ball well and finished transition points after getting a steal. Addison has been shooting extremely well which helps open the inside with her outside shooting threat. I was glad to see Joy (Pyle) have a solid game against a team with good size inside.”
