Swenson Leads Scoring with 14, Prescott Scores 10

ELYRIA – In a makeup game from weather delays earlier in January, the Elyria Christian girls scored their sixth win in a row with a 36-15 win over Centre on Thursday.
“It is always great to get a league win,” noted Lady Eagle head coach Greg Fields. “We came out a little sluggish to start the game and really struggled to get into any kind of rhythm. We could give some good excuses for it, but there is really no reason to not start a home game with energy.”
Now 8-5 for the season, the Lady Eagles will look to continue the win streak on Tuesday when they play host to Wakefield.
Elyria held a slim five-point, 9-4, advantage at the end of the first quarter and took an eight point, 16-8 lead into the halftime break. After pushing the advantage out to a 19-point lead at 30-11 by the end of the third quarter, the Lady Eagles settled in for the final 21-point victory.
Coach Fields concluded his post-game reflections by saying, “I felt like we started the second half with a lot more motivation to be sharp on offense and create some scoring with our defense. Addie (Swenson) and Grace (Prescott) did a wonderful job of spreading out their zone defense with some good outside shooting.”
Addison Swenson led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 14 points thanks to connecting on three three-pointers while Grace Prescott reached double digits with 10 points. Julia Allen led the team in rebounds with six and steals with three.
