ELBING – It was another typical Elyria Christian girls game on Tuesday as they went on the road and nipped Berean Academy by four, 29-24.

After starting out the season with five straight losses, the Lady Eagles have now won 13 of 14 to move their season record to 13-6 and find themselves ranked tenth in Class 1A Division II. They now prep to host Marion on Friday which will aslo be senior night.

Elyria held a one-point, 9-8 lead after the first eight minutes of play before Berean Academy pulled ahead by three at 11-14 going into the halftime break. The Lady Eagles took the lead back by two, 20-18, at the end of the third before finishing out for the final five-point victory.

“This was another great win for our girls,” noted Lady Eagle head coach Greg Fields. “They continue to impress me with their perseverance in these tough games. Berean has a very athletic group with good depth and they did a good job keeping their starters fresh for the fourth quarter where they really turned up their pressure defense.”

Addison Swenson connected on four three-pointers in leading the team with 12 points while also topping the team on the boards with six rebounds and steals with three.

Coach Fields concluded his post-game thoughts by adding, “Addie (Swenson) had a huge game tonight, probably the best game of her career considering the defense she was going up against. Julia (Allen) and Grace (Prescott) both played well by providing solid offense in points and assists. Joy (Pyle) had been sick all weekend and missed school on Monday, but she ended up playing all thirty-two minutes and held her own against a couple of talented seniors.”
