ELYRIA CHRISTIAN SPIKERS LOOK TO REBUILD

REIFF, PYLE TO LEAD LADY EAGLES

By Staff

ELYRIA – After going 21-16 last season, the Elyria Christian volleyball program will need to rebuild as they look to replace four starters plus one backup from a squad of just 11 players.

The biggest hole to fill will be that of Brooke Davidson who was all-league in 2024 while the combined five graduates were the top of the defense and passing numbers.

What will the Lady Eagles head coach Tonya Robertson do? She will build the 2025 squad around senior Laney Reiff and junior Joy Pyle. Reiff, a setter, will be the strong leader of the team after making all-league honorable mention las season and surpassing 1,000 assists in her career. Middle hitter Pyle will be a force at the net.

With just nine players currently on the roster, coach Robertson remains optimistic about the upcoming season, noting, “This year will be a bit of a rebuilding year after losing four starters. We will have a young, inexperienced team in 2025, but we do have strong leadership from Laney Reiff, our senior setter, and junior middle hitter, Joy Pyle. In both size and numbers, we are not a big team with just nine players. But these girls work hard and have a lot of heart. I am excited to see what they can do.”

The Lady Eagles of Elyria Christian will open the 2025 season with a pair of road games starting Tuesday, September 2 at Hutchinson Central Christian then on Thursday, September 4 at Gladiator 828.
