ELYRIA GIRLS FALTER LATE - LOSE TO CENTRAL CHRISTIAN

By Staff
GOESSEL – At the Goessel Bluebird Classic on Tuesday, the Elyria Christian girls could not hang on to a lead and lost in the final quarter to Hutchinson Central Christian, 33-42.
“The girls really battled tonight against a solid Central Christian team as we had some open looks that just did not go in late in the game,” explained Lady Eagle head coach Greg Fields.
After trailing by just one, 10-11, at the end of the first quarter, the Lady Eagles took a five-point, 21-16, lead into the halftime break before falling behind again by the end of the third quarter 25-28.

Coach Fields noted, “I noticed that our shooting p;ercentage has gone down as fatigue sets in. As the girls get more conditioned throughout the season, hopefully we can change the pattern.”
Addison Swenson led the Lady Eagles in scoring with 11 thanks to hitting on three three-pointers. Joy Pyle earned her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds and Grace Prescott dished out six assists while Carly Jo Rohaus pitched in on the boards with six rebounds.
Speaking of his players, coach Fields concluded his reflections on the game by saying, “Joy (Pyle) was dominant in the pain tonight as she pulled down a double-double. Addison (Swenson) had the hot hand shooting in the first half and her defense was outstanding for all four quarters. Grace (Prescott) did an outstanding job distributing the ball tonight.”
The Lady Eagle will close out the Bluebird Classic on Saturday.
