REIFF TAKES 1ST AT HESSTON, GARDNER FINISHES 2ND

            HESSTON – Elyria Christian’s cross-country team took eight runners to Hesston on Thursday for the Hesston Invitational Special and brought home one first place individual championship along with a second-place trophy for a freshman.

            Laney Reiff, a junior Lady Eagle, covered the 5K Small School Junior Girls Division with a time of 20:42.60 which was good for a first-place championship as the best time among 37 runners.

In the 5K Small School Freshman Boys Division, Eagle freshman Mason Gardner placed  second among 55 runners with a time of 19:23.40.

            Among the other six Eagle runners, Londyn Olsen medaled with a twelfth-place finish in the small school senior division and all six of the Eagle boys running set season best times.

            Next up for the Elyria Christian harriers will come on Thursday, September 19 at the Buhler Invitational.

5K SMALL SCHOOL JUNIOR DIVISION = 23. Matthew Robinson – 20:52.10 (season best); 47. Colby Hall – 24:57.10 (season best).

5K SMALL SCHOOL SOPHOMORE DIVISION = 26. Grant Huxman – 22:11.30 (season best).

5K SMALL SCHOOL FRESHMAN DIVISION = 2. Mason Gardner – 19:23.40 (season best); 25. Blake Saffel – 22:46.90 (season best); 30. Connor Stark – 23:11.50 (season best).
