EAGLES STUMBLE AT BLUE VALLEY
By Staff

The Canton/Galva football team went on the road Friday and suffered a humbling 0-46 loss to Blue Valley.
“This was a bad game from the first snap,” explained Eagle head coach Ted Regehr. “We had a few mishaps the first couple of possessions, and it affected us the entire game.”
After holding Blue Valley to just one score in the first quarter, Canton/Galva was hit with three scores in the second quarter to take a commanding 0-32 lead over the Eagles into the halftime break. Two more scores in the third quarter put an end to the game early, with Canton/Galva not scoring.
When discussing his offense, coach Regehr added, “Offensively, we had a number of missed assignments that did not allow us to get anything going. We put ourselves in multiple down and distant situations, and unfortunately, this team is not ready or able to capitalize on those kinds of plays.”
Thanks to the running of Jaxon Chrislip, he picked up 63 yards on 13 carries; the offense did move the ball at times.
“Defensively, we played so undisciplined, and that got us out of position to make tackles and stops. Blue Valley did not do anything we were not expecting, and that was very frustrating, but credit them for executing.”
On defense, Kustom Schamp was a nightmare for the Blue Valley offense, recording 8.5 tackles while Magnuson Cathey had 5.5.
In finishing up his post-game reflections, coach Regehr pointed out, “We have a lot of little things to work on and clean up. We have to find eight guys on both sides of the ball doing what we as coaches are asking them to do.”
The schedule does the Eagles no favors as they prep to host 8-man powerhouse Little River on Friday.
