Ediger, McMannis, Collins guide Canton/Galva to shutout win!

Fairfield – The Canton/Galva football team went on the road and held Fairfield to just 79 yards in offense while dismantled their defense to the tune of a 50-0 shutout victory.


Lane McMannis ran for touchdowns of 32 and 11 yards I the first quarter, which combined with a 28-yard scoring pass from Jaden Ediger to Wyatt Collins and an Ediger seven-yard scoring run, the Eagles went up 30-0 by the end of the first quarter.


The offensive deluge continued in the second quarter as Jaden Ediger threw three more scoring passes, a three yarder to McMannis and two more to Wyatt Collins covering 60 and nine yards, giving the Eagles a 50-0 lead and win at halftime due to the eight man point rules.


According to the stat sheet, Fairfield only picked up 70 yards on 29 offensive plays while the Eagles rang up 249 yards on 26 snaps, including 133 through the air as Ediger completed eight of thirteen passes.


The Canton/Galva defense forced Fairfield to make and lose three fumbles in the game as Wyatt Collins led the defense with eight tackles and McMannis recorded five.


McMannis just missed the 100-yard plateau running the ball as he rambled for 96 yards on just nine carries while Wyatt Collins took just three passes and covered 97 yards and scoring on all three receptions.


Now 4-1 on the season and pushing a four-game win streak, the Eagles will be back on the home field on Friday, October 6 to tangle with Hutchinson Central Christian. Central Christian will come in with a 3-2 record after losing 50-0 on Friday to Kinsley.
