CANTON – The Canton/Galva football team bounced back from their opening week loss on Friday by playing host to Goessel and hammering away for a 60-12 victory.


With the win, the Eagles are now 1-1 for the young season as they prep for another home game on Friday, September 15 against Solomon. The game will also be homecoming.


On Friday, both teams scored in the first before the Eagles put three scores on the board in the second quarter to take a commanding 26-6 lead heading to the halftime break.


Coming out in the third, Canton/Galva put three more scores on the board in the third and Goessel added one to make the score 48-12 after three. The Eagles then put a pair of scores on the board in the fourth to get the final 48-point, 60-12 win.


As a team, the Eagles rolled up 465 yards on 48 offensive snaps of which 410 came running the ball.

Lane McMannis covered 291 yards on 19 carries while scoring four touchdowns that included scoring runs of 57-, 35, and 52 yards. Leyton Witte contributed 115 yards on nine carries and a pair of scoring runs covering 42 and 28 yards.


Defensively, McMannis led the Eagles with nine tackles that included a pair of sacks and three stops for a loss of yardage. Noah Collins pitched in with six tackles while getting a sack and three stops for a loss of yardage.
