CKYRA CLOSES 2025 SEASON

AREA RODEO ATHLETES SCORE 19 GOLD MEDALS

         CANTON – For the Central Kansas Youth Rodeo Association (CKYRA), the 2025 season has officially closed with the pair of rodeo events held over the weekend of Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10 at the McPherson County fairgrounds in Canton with 19 gold medals earned in individual events by County rodeo athletes.

         Leading the way for the final weekend of rodeo events was Wesley Prieb of Moundridge and Ansleigh Hogg of Canton as they both scored first-place wins in a pair of events both Saturday and Sunday with Prieb winning in the 5-8 Division and Hogg scoring gold in the 2-4 Division.

         Prieb won the Tie Down Calf event both Saturday and Sunday while winning the Team Heading on Saturday and Chute Dogging on Sunday. Ansleigh Hogg dominated Barrel Racing and Pole Bending, winning the events both days and taking second in goats (girls) both days as well.

         Besides Hogg and Prieb, Levi Henry won both the Chute Dogging and Breakaway events on Saturday in the 5-8 Division while Rustin Ayres took top spot in Bareback Steers of the 5-8 Division and Keaton Ryan scored a win in Chute Dogging in the 9-12 Division.

         Individual winners of events on Sunday included Blain Smith and Lennon Graber in Chute Dogging and Pole Bending of the 9-12 Division. In the 5-8 Division, Payton Wilson took first in Goats (girls), Addalaya Cathey won Pole Bending, Kinley Clinkscale took first in Barrel Racing, and Rustin Ayres made it a clean sweep for the weekend in Bareback Steers. Wacey Boswell in the 0-1 Division took first in Barrel Racing.

         A total of 26 McPherson County rodeo athletes competed in a total of 185 events by the time the two days of rodeo events were over. In the 5-8 Division, Jovey Henry and Korbin Hogg, both of Canton, each entered 13 events while Wesley Prieb of Marquette participated in 11.

         McPherson County Communities represented at the CKYRA events this summer include Canton, Galva, Moundridge, Marquette, Lindsborg, and McPherson.
