LADY EAGLES CLOSE SEASON WITH PAIR OF LOSSES

CANTON – The Canton/Galva volleyball program closed out their 2024 season with a pair of losses at the Class 1A Division I regionals in Little River on Tuesday.

With the losses, the Lady Eagles finished the season 9-21.

In a match with Flint Hills, the Lady Eagles lost in straight sets, 12-25 and 21-25 as Trinity Espinoza topped the team in both digs and kills with 11 of each.

Canton/Galva closed out the season in fighting fashion as they took Olpe to three sets before losing 1-2. The Lady Eagles lost the first set 17-25 before scoring a tough fought two-point, 25-23, win in the second set before Olpe put the season to rest with an 18-25 win in set three.

Rae Hawkinson, playing her final match as a Lady Eagle as the only senior on the team, had a monster performance in the three-set loss to Olpe as she led the team in assists with 13. digs with 19, serve aces with two and blocks with one while also recording nine kills.

Trinity Espinoza led the team in kills with 16 and tied with Hawkinson for the highest in both serve aces and blocks. In the Olpe match, the Lady Eagles had 82 digs total with Makinlee Hoppes, Espinoza, and Jordyn Elliot all reaching double digits with 17, 15, and 11, respectively.
