C/G LADY EAGLE SPIKERS CLOSE BUSY SEPTEMBER

            CANTON – It has been a busy, busy first month of the 2024 volleyball season for the Canton/Galva Lady Eagles as they played seven matches or invitationals, including three in the final week.

            On Tuesday, September 24, the Lady Eagles went to Elyria Christian for a pair of matches and lost both, 14-25/19-25 in the first match and then 25-27/20-25 in a tighter fought second match.

            Both Aaliyah Skipworth and Trinity Espinoza handed out 11 assists on the day while Jordyn Elliot and Rae Hawkinson dug out 18 and 16 digs, respectively. Hawkinson also recorded 11 kills over the two matches.

            On Thursday, September 26, Canton/Galva went to Burrton to play the Lady Chargers and rematch with Elyria Chrisitan.

            The Lady Eagles got back in the winning column with a straight set pounding of Burrton, winning 25-7 and 25-3 before losing in straight sets to Elyria Christian, 17-25/20-25.

            No other information was available.

            Canton/Galva closed out the week and the month of September on Saturday at the Herington Invitational where they went 1-2 in three matches.

            Opening up against Centre, the Lady Eagles lost in straight sets, 21-25/21-25 before getting punched by Sedgwick in straight sets, losing 6-25/10-25.

            The Lady Eagles closed out the week on a high note as they beat Rural Vista in a three-set monster of a battle, winning 25-20 and 25-20 in sets one and three after losing the second set, 19-25.

            No team or individual stats were available at press time.

            The youthful Lady Eagles continue to improve led by senior Rae Hawkinson, juniors Trinity Espinoza and Jordyn Elliot along with sophomore Londyn Dietrich and freshman Aaliyah Skipworth.

            Now 6-11 on the season, the Lady Eagles will be hosting Goessel and Centre on Tuesday, October 1 before hosting the annual Canton/Galva Lady Eagle Invitational on Saturday, October 5.
