SOLOMON – The Canton/Galva track/field teams closed out the regular 2024 season on Thursday in Solomon at the Wheat State League Meet where the Lady Eagles finished eighth and the Eagle boys placed sixth.

 

Next up for the Eagle track/field athletes will be on Thursday, May 16 in Greensburg at the Class 1A State Regional meet.

CANTON/GALVA LADY EAGLE  RESULTS  (top 6 finishes) >

 

The Lady Eagles finished eighth with 23 points, just ahead of Herington with 20. Little River won the girls division with 134 points while Goessel and Wakefield finished second and third.

 

Team Standings > 1. Little River – 134; 2. Goessel – 122.50; 3. Wakefield – 71; 4. Elyria Christian – 60.50; 5. Rural Vista – 42; 6. Centre – 37; 7. Solomon – 31; 8. C/G LADY EAGLES – 23; 9. Herington – 20.

 

ANTON/GALVA LADY EAGLE INDIVIDUAL RESULTS  >

 

For the Lady Eagles, the highlight of the meet was a pair of second place finishes  by Honesty Williams in the 400 meters and Makinlee Hoppes in the javelin.

 

400 Meters > 2. Honesty Williams – 1:08.65.

100 Meter Hurdles > 4. Jordyn Elliot – 17.46 (season best).

300 Meter Hurdles > 6. Makinlee Hoppes – 55.85.

4x100 Meter Relay > 5. Canton/Galva Lady Eagles – 56.62

Javelin > 2. Makinlee Hoppes – 92’ 7”.

 

CANTON/GALVA EAGLE BOYS RESULTS >

 

The Eagle boys scored 42 team points which was good for sixth at the Wheat State League Meet as Little River dominated the event  with 134 points while Rural Vista and Goessel finished second and third in the nine-team event.

 

Team Standings > 1. Little River – 134; 2. Rural Vista – 114; 3. Goessel – 79; 4. Solomon – 56; 5. Herington – 49; 6. C/G EAGLES – 42; 7. Wakefield – 39;  8. Elyria Christian – 34; 9. Centre – 1.

 

CANTON/GALVA EAGLE INDIVIDUL RESULTS (top 6 finishes) >

 

Lane McMannis scored a season  best run in both the hurdle events, winning  the 300-meter hurdles while finishing second in the 110-meter hurdles.

 

Jaden Ediger ran second in the 200 meters, while Jayden Barnett finished third in the long jump.

 

100 Meters > 4. Jaden Ediger – 11.91.

200 Meters > 2. Jaden Ediger – 23.77 (season best).

110 Meter Hurdles > 2. Lane McMannis – 16.53 (season best).

300 Meter Hurdles > 1. Lane McMannis – 42.40 (season best).

Long Jump > 3. Jayden Barnett – 18’ 6.25”.

Javelin > 3. Lane McMannis – 149’ 7”.
